Virginia Tech routs Wake Forest, 52-21

The Virginia Tech Hokies jumped out to a big lead and never looked back in a 52-21 pasting of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor passed just under 300 yards and three touchdowns to lead Virginia Tech.

The Hokies also finished with nearly 300 yards on the ground. David Wilson lead the way with 15 carries for 105 yards.

Suddenly, the Hokies have transitioned from a team that lost at home to James Madison to one pounding ACC opponents. ( Read More…)

Moore, four others to enter VT Hall of Fame

By Bud L. Ellis

Corey Moore made quite an impression on the football field for the Virginia Tech Hokies in the late 1990s, helping fuel Virginia Tech’s rise to national prominence.

Beamer gets extension

Virginia Tech Hokies head coach Frank Beamer has received a contract extension through the 2016 season.

His current deal was supposed to run out at the end of the 2012 season, but there was never any concern it wouldn’t get done.

Beamer isn’t going anywhere, as he has built the Virginia Tech football program and will retire from the job.

He is entering his 24th season as the Hokies head coach and is second in wins among active coaches. ( Read More…)

Hokies want to make big splash in opener

The season opener against a top team hasn’t been kind to the Virginia Tech Hokies in recent years.

The Hokies haven’t been shy about opening up in a big game against a quality opponent, but the results have left a lot to be desired.

Virginia Tech faces another tough challenge this year when they take on the Boise State Broncos at FedEx Field.

While it isn’t technically a home game, the Hokies do have the huge advantage of what should be a very raucous crowd that is heavily tilted their way. ( Read More…)

Hokies excited for basketball season

It may only be June, but the Virginia Tech Hokies are already extremely excited for the upcoming basketball season. With the news that guard Malcolm Delaney would return for his senior season, expectations were quickly raised.

Some of that was Delaney’s doing, as the guard proclaimed that the Hokies could make a run to the Final Four. It’s highly doubtful that Virginia Tech is that good, but they could certainly be near the top of the ACC.

Other than Duke and maybe North Carolina, the ACC really looks wide open thanks to graduating players and NBA defections.
